Who can use a Bank Hub?
A Bank Hub can be used by customers of participating high street banks – not just the ones that have a community banker on duty. This includes individuals and businesses needing to deposit or withdraw cash, deposit cheques, check account balances, and receive personalized banking support. The Hub serves as a convenient solution for those in communities where traditional bank branches have closed, ensuring that essential banking services remain accessible to everyone.
What is a Community Banker?
A community banker at a Bank Hub provides personalised financial services and support to customers. They assist with a range of banking needs, such as helping to opening accounts, discussing loan and mortgage options, offering financial advice, and addressing specific financial concerns. Each weekday, a different community banker from various high street banks is available, ensuring that customers receive tailored assistance and expert advice for their unique financial situations.
Is this the permanent location for the Ware bank hub?
No. Our current location on Amwell End is a temporary location whilst we carry out the necessary transformation of our permanent site which will be on the High Street in Ware. We don’t have a date for this move, but we’ll keep the community updated when the move is to take place and announce the permanent location nearer the time
Why have Banking Hubs been created?
To ensure essential banking services remain accessible in communities where bank branches have closed.
How do I find out which services my bank offers at Banking Hubs?
To find out which services your own bank offers in Banking Hubs visit our Everyday Banking page.
What are the opening hours for Ware Banking Hub?
The Ware bank hub is open Monday – Friday 9-5pm. It is closed on Bank Holidays and weekends.
Our local Ware Post Office is open longer hours including all day on Saturdays and can do your business and personal banking too.
Can I access other Post Office services at Banking Hubs besides banking and bills?
No. While they’re operated by Post Office, Banking Hubs aren’t regular Post Office branches. This means services like posting letters and parcels, insurance products, travel money as well as identity services like passports, aren’t available in our hubs, nor is our range of retail products and services.
How are the locations of Banking Hubs decided upon?
Locations are chosen based on community needs and the availability of bank branches. Banking hubs are established by LINK who have identified need for access to cash and banking services to meet local demand, following bank branch closures in the community. Post Office is then contracted to operate the Banking Hubs site and provide vital cash services to the local community and UOE as the local operator (and Elliot Jacobs as our Postmaster) is contracted to run it.
My bank doesn’t provide a Community Banker service at this Hub. Can I still use the Hub?
Yes. Customers of all major banks and building societies can access cash services from the Post Office counter service, whenever the Hub is open:
pay in cash and cheques | withdraw cash | check your balance | pay utility bills | top up your gas and electricity | access change-giving services (for small businesses)
Why isn’t my bank providing a Community Banker service at this Hub?
Community Bankers are usually provided by the banks with the most customers in the local area.
Can I only use the Hub on the day my Community Banker is present?
No. Customers of all major banks and building societies can access cash services from the Post Office counter service, whenever the Hub is open:
pay in cash and cheques | withdraw cash | check your balance | pay utility bills | top up your gas and electricity | access change-giving services (for small businesses)
You can also talk to a Community Banker from your bank on the day your bank is in the Hub. There is a private space where you can talk face-to-face about more complicated banking enquiries like payments and transfers, managing your account, and how to use online banking.
