In the latest of our ‘meet the neighbours’ articles, we’d like to give one of our newest co-working as above colleagues the chance to introduce himself:

“My company builds mobile-friendly, content managed websites under the banner Pixel<to>Code.

“I’m a software developer specialising in Umbraco, which is the leading open-source content management system on the Microsoft platform. However, I’m not just a techie. I take a practical approach and use my experience in business to recommend solutions that suit the way our customers work.

“Although I work alone, I do collaborate with designers, front-end developers and user experience experts on a freelance basis. Sometimes Pixel<to>Code leads the team, but often I’m part of a team led by a freelance project manager or a creative agency working on behalf of a major brand.

“We’ve built websites for local businesses as well as listed companies and global brands. We also build apps for simplifying progress tracking in the construction industry.”

Chris signed up to the UOE Hub because of its convenience. “It’s friendly and quiet which allows me to focus on my work, away from the distractions of working at home or the interruptions to concentration working in a café.”

He likes being amongst other entrepreneurs. The informal networking afforded by working there means he’s already collaborated with another company to help them out with a problem, and he has introduced another UOE Hub member to a client who might be useful to them.

In fact, Chris’s advice is to encourage members to make the most of being part of a shared workspace. “Be sociable and introduce yourself in order to take advantage of all the networking opportunities available.”
