UOE has announced its intention to open its third retail store in the market town of Hertford and has been confirmed by the Post Office as its selected partner for a proposed franchise of its existing Hertford branch currently on Fore Street in Hertford.
Elliot Jacobs, MD of UOE said, “we look forward to speaking with the local residents of Hertford as part of the forthcoming process and reassuring them that the service they want and deserve will be in safe hands with UOE.” Jacobs added, “we’ve proven at both Potters Bar (which opened in February this year) and East Finchley, residents and businesses alike can be confident that the high quality of Post Office services that customers expect will be retained with the added benefits of longer opening hours and shorter queue times.”
Subject to public consultation, the plan is to launch the store at its new location on Thursday, 19th November 2015, ahead of the Christmas Postal period. UOE will be regenerating a site previously unused for almost 10 years on Maidenhead Street in the centre of Hertford town.
If the plans are approved UOE will convert the ground floor space into a modern, stationery store and business services hub (providing internet access, printing, copying, binding laminating etc) with a 5-counter Post Office offering all the services of the current post office*.
UOE recently featured in a BBC2 documentary charting the transformation of the Post Office in which Elliot referred to Hertfordshire as “the County of Opportunity”. Hertford would be UOE’s second branch in Hertfordshire, following on from the successful launch of Potters Bar back in February.
