Which office supplies are critical to your business?

25 Feb 2019

Our apologies, but we are going to have to mention the ‘B’ word. We don’t want to be a Negative Nelly about it, and we certainly don’t want to comment on the politics or the rights and wrongs of what’s going on in Westminster right now (although the words “Don’t panic Mr Mainwaring!” do spring to mind), but as businesses, we have to think about contingency plans and brace ourselves for the possibility of a No Deal Brexit.

We don’t have a crystal ball, but it’s inevitable that, for a while afterwards, there are bound to be a few weeks of confusion around imports and exports. As many of our office supplies are imported from Europe, we anticipate there may be a few issues to iron out before we will be confident about offering a constant supply of supplies.

It therefore makes sense to think carefully about any supplies your business will not be able to do without, in case there is disruption in the weeks immediately following a No Deal Brexit.

Keep on running

If you want to make sure your business stays up and running in the interim period, our advice is to have enough supplies to last for around 8 weeks from 29th March. This will help to smooth over any bumps that may show up in our supply chain.

It doesn’t matter if your company relies on A4 paper or toilet paper, toner or tea, batteries or till rolls, if your productivity would suffer if you ran out of a particular item or items, you need to find enough cupboard space to squeeze in a few extra ‘business critical’ supplies for a ‘just in case’ scenario.

So now is the time to do an inventory of current stocks, work out what you’ll need, then call us on 08456 43 43 44 to order enough essentials to see your company safely through any Brexit blips.
